L:  Want to plan a visit to the Eames House with me?  Are you familiar with it?  Did you ever watch the Eames documentary?  If not, we should.

F: I do not know what you are speaking of, but I want to plan any trip with you. It looks pretty sweet and very close to home. Who knew?!

L:  What did you eat for breakfast today?

F: Oh that’s a great question. As you know I am testing out a blood sugar regulation diet to help with my headaches. It has not gone very well so far, but today I had a smoothie and feel great! All is well in the world. In fact, I had a very delicious Mint Chip Green Smoothie.

L:  What is a Suz memory you have?

F: Oh wow. To be honest with you, I think part of me has completely shut down my heart from even thinking about her because it is too hard. For a while I would say that I was almost completely obsessed with thinking about her and wanting to talk to her. Something inside of me changed I think. Even typing this makes my eyes water. Mostly, whenever I think of her I think of her calling me “sweet thing” or she always called me “fare bear”. When I think of Suz, I hear her voice.

L:  Are you sick of me living in your living room yet? 🙂

F: Not at all. Now that you are at Teddy’s I feel sad. It really has been so easy having you here. If anything I wish I was more fun! I love having you around. Albert and I both do.

L:  How about a song to celebrate it being Friday!

F: I am in weird mood and for some reason this feels like the right pic.

3.  Getting Grief Right (via NYTimes.com) reminds us, “…there is no right or wrong way to grieve. There is no pressure to move on. There is no shame in intensity or duration. Sadness, regret, confusion, yearning and all the experiences of grief become part of the narrative of love for the one who died.”  -Lauren

4.  The Period Store is an interesting and funny site that Lauren sent me this week after my post about hormones. It is an online store where you sign up for a monthly period box. It’s a pretty crazy and hilarious idea.  –Farrell

During the past couple of weeks I have delved pretty deeply into some serious research on hormones and all the wonderful and intricate things that entails.  One very major take away that has stuck with me is that your emotional life GREATLY affects your hormones and menstrual cycle.  As an example, perhaps you are feeling a creative block or stagnation in your life; it is possible that you might be having increased PMS or trouble conceiving.  Another example is that you are feeling too much pressure at work to be more masculine, pressure to be a good mother, spouse, friend or employee, etc. that you develop irregular periods or extreme fatigue.  Now on the surface this all seems to make sense but sometimes we want such a clinical explanation for what we experience that we do not always check in with ourselves about the blocks in our lives.  I find this perspective exciting and relieving because it means what I do can really change my life and my health!  Isn’t that super sweet?!  Being a woman is such an amazing journey and as I get older I am trying to embrace it instead of feel ashamed of it.  If you are experiencing low libido, irregular periods, PMS or menopause I have two wonderful book recommendations for you. Women Code and Woman’s Bodies, Women’s Wisdom.  Hopefully you’ll love them as much as I do.

I have also written about this topic before in one of my favorite posts here: What Phases You?

Since Lauren has been here I have really been trying to make our house a home.  It can be hard because neither Albert or I really like to get “things.”  We like to live a simple and minimal life.  We struggle with purchasing things unless we REALLY love them and in turn we end up mostly with random items and hand-me-downs.  There is also a bit of an identity crisis that comes up when trying to decorate your home.  You really have to ask yourself, who am I?  What do I like?  So far, there have been a couple of things I have seen that have kept me inspired and ready to chug along with the process.

L:  It’s Friday!  What will you do tonight?

F: Oh boy! It has been so busy at work with everyone cleansing this time of year, I am happy to have a night to just chill. I fly to New Mexico tomorrow morning to meet you and Mom for the weekend, so I will probably just get to bed early. I know that is a boring response. You know what? Come to think of it! Maybe I’ll dance the night away and take some shots!

L:  What advice would you give someone who is generally looking to live a healthier life?

F: Routine is your very best friend when living a healthier life. Establishing a daily routine that you can rely on will help you stay healthier and make it easier for you to stay healthy. I generally have a smoothie in the morning which I think can be the secret to setting the day out right because you tend to make better choices throughout the day after that. Also, everything in moderation, including moderation.

L:  What did you think of that Pumping Iron documentary we watched the other night?

F: I thought that documentary was amazing, disgusting, interesting, hilarious, gross and weird. I mean, what a strange and bizarre lifestyle and way to look. I just don’t understand. Most of those guys looked like their heads were going to pop off.

L:  What kinds of LA things do you want to do together while I’m here?

F: I want to go to the Getty, go on more hikes, spend more beach days together and have more friend hangs. Nothing too complicated.

L:  What is your favorite/most visited website these days?

F. Ha!  Cleanprogram.com.  I probably go to it 100 times a day.

By now, you all must be familiar with Osho cards since Lauren and I both love them.  On January 1st, my beautiful spiritual running buddy and I did readings for each other.  This was one of the strongest readings that I have had yet.

IMG_6458

Because each card is really up for interpretation, here is mine:  Although a lot of people tend to express themselves outwardly through creativity, I will focus more on myself as my form of creativity, reminding myself that making myself better is enough for now.  I will also find that through meditation this process with be much quicker and more enjoyable, also while remembering that the master is simply a reflection of yourself.  I have hit a new level of maturity (I will be 30 this year!) and through that comes wisdom and all things will seem more rational and calming.  The bottom card is possibilities which is meant to remind you that, as my mother says, “all options are available.”  Everything does not need to be done the same way.  You can create your own path.  And last but not least, change.  There are no certainties in life other than change.  I have come to know this at a very young age and feel it has shaped my expectations.  This card is a good reminder that all things change and though a door may close another one will always open.

Even if you don’t “believe” in tarot cards, it is always a fun thing to do.  If you are in the mood, try pulling your own card from Osho.com.

We are back after a much longer than anticipated break!  We hope your holiday season was filled with comfort and joy and that you are all feeling great about 2015!  Here are some of our favorite pics from the last couple of weeks:
