do you remember why
we sought advise from you,
asked you what we oughta do

and walked away ok
fresh outlook on the day
whatever come our way

your every shade of blue
reflecting in our eyes
connecting me to you

forever and a day, will never go away

It’s that moment we have all been waiting for! Another Monster Rally EP is out. In my opinion, EPs are the best because you catch a glimpse of a period of a time in an artist’s life. It is clear that Monster Rally is evolving and we love it! Keep it coming, Teds.

For the full EP, listen here.

Happy Friday!

F: Have you ever been to Mexico? If yes, what was your experience?

L: When I was a senior in high school I told mom that my friends and I wanted to go to Florida for spring break. Clearly unaware of its reputation for debauchery she responded, “Why not go to Cancun or somewhere like that?!” I could hardly believe my ears and jumped at the suggestion. It was a fun, though pretty disgusting trip.

F: Show us a picture of New York in bloom.

L: Ha! Well I took that picture above before even getting to this question. It’s been pretty pretty flower wise in New York & on Columbia’s campus where I work.

F: What are your summer-ish plans for this weekend?

L: Am hoping on a trip out of dodge. We’ll see…

F: What is one look that you would love to rock, but you are scared to?

L: I really like these patterned, high waisted skirt/cropped top looks I’m seeing lately; but I’d have to be in the right frame of mind, with the right place to go, to wear one.

F:  What is the last thing you watched that entertained you?

L: Got down with some classic Crank Yankers a couple nights ago.  Pretty raunchy so I’m not going to link to the one I watched but it was funny.

I never posted any of the pictures I took when two of my lovely friends married each other in a barn in Evergreen, Colorado.  Though in all honesty, I didn’t take as many as I usually do.  The day after the wedding, some friends and the bride and groom headed to Vail. Here are some of my favorites:

Ten ways I can be the change I want to see in the world:

1) Engage the people I come into contact with throughout the day.

2) Put my phone aside while I talk to them.

3) Eat lunch outside/away from my desk.

4) Find more ways to use the things I already have – stop buying and seeking new ones.

5) Talk to & feed myself with the same way I would a child.

6) Accept help from others.

7) Live below my means.

8) Pray/meditate/connect to whatever It is.

9) Identify and engage in my community(-ies).

10) Exercise.

Happy Mother’s Day weekend to you all. I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and shed some love on all the mamas out there. Here are this week’s pics:

There are endless reasons why I love my mother. My love I have for her has grown more and more over the years and I imagine that it will continue on that way. My mom has been through a lot. A lot of wonderful experiences and a couple hard ones. I never realized until I was older that she was trying with all her might to show up for the hard times with love. She was and is determined to see the reasons and lessons behind every struggle. And to see that in action as I have gone from child, teenager and now as a woman is miraculous. Sure, she is coming in a week and she drives me bananas, but she really finds meaning in life. I now value that same thing.

As I was getting ready for a party that I had at my place last night, I was thinking about my mom. Although she swears hosting was passed down through my dad’s side of the family, it’s not true. My mom is the queen of throwing things together. In turn, I love to bring people together. I wish I could say that I throw things together, but I am more of a planner. That is besides the point. The point is: the most important thing my mother could have passed down was bring people you love together. It’s those times that last with you for weeks after. It makes life fun. It’s good to connect.

Happy Mother’s Day, Mom. You are pretty great.

I have loved sunflowers ever since I can remember. They are so big and bright. They remind me of the sun. They are soft and fluffy and all different kinds of colors. My beautiful friend Julie sent me this picture the other day. I have now changed it to the background and lock screen on my phone. It has been so nice to see them every day and think about all the different places that I will come across each of these through out my life.

Happy Friday!

The ability to practice anywhere is one of the best things about yoga.  Though I don’t have a lot of space, I’m definitely a fan of the home yoga practice.  Don’t get me wrong, there’s is something very powerful about being led by a great teacher and practicing as part of a group but having the option to practice at home can’t be beat.  Personally, I still like to listen to a yoga class podcast when I practice at home (my favorite podcasts here); it keeps me from loosing focus and skipping poses I don’t love.  I look forward to the day when I have as beautiful a yoga space as the one pictured above but in the meantime my home practice necessities consist only of:

Jade Harmony Yoga Mat (the best yoga mat, in my opinion.  no slip, no slide!) | Mexican Yoga Blanket | The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali | Bose Mobile Speaker

L: What’s a U.S. city that you’ve never been to but think you might like to visit?

F: New Orleans sticks out the most. It seems so fun! I gotta get there. I also want to go visit Bozeman and see Julie.

L:  What is your favorite recipe in the new Clean cookbook?

F: The Mediterranean Rice Noodles. It is SO good. I made it for my co-workers last week. It is such a light spring time noodle dish that is great for summer picnics or even lunch.

L:  Are you working towards any goals right now?

F: This might sound like a silly goal but I am trying not to be so lazy after work. I am trying to get a work out in or go on a bike ride. It is so easy to just lay around after I am done with work. I rarely really do that, but I feel like doing it every day.

L:  Do you think you’re in danger of embracing the re-emergence of the Birkenstock sandal?

F: I thought we promised never to go down that road?! I haven’t seen any that I have liked yet. Thank the good lord!

L:  What’s the most recent photo you’ve taken?

F. Rhubarb is only in season for a blink of an eye and when it is, you have to whip up a strawberry rhubarb pie. I promise you will never regret it. I think this is my best pie so far.
