One Word, Two Ways

Untitled

I listened to the May Cause Miracles  conference all week and it really introduced me to some new people. One of the people that I learned more about was famous yogi Elena Brower. I felt really inspired by this video she made to introduce her new book. I think it is visually so soft and powerful at the same time. If you are interested in yoga or have your own practice already, give this video a quick watch.

I know that invisibility or the ability to fly are well worth considering but whenever I’m asked what super power I’d choose for myself, if given the option, it’s hard for me to look past Inspector Gadget’s capabilities. And by that I primarily mean the “Go, go Gadget arms” command. It’s just one of those phrases from childhood that made such an impression that it still comes to mind on a fairly regular basis in my adult life. Sure there are lots of things we can imagine being able to do but don’t tell me stretching your arms like a tape measure from your torso isn’t one of them.

My mom made sure to remind me that when I move into my new place, I needed to “sage” my apartment. Like the good daughter that I am, I did just that. It might seem crazy, but many cultures practice the burning of sage and other plants in order to purify a space. I have done it with all of my apartments and living spaces and will continue to pass it on to my children. Try it out!

I recently did some repainting in my apartment and am thinking about doing a little more (none of it in sage but that’s beside the point). I can’t quite decide if picking just the perfect shade of a color is an art to master or simply a stroke of luck to strike. I’ve had a lot of ‘not quite’ color results in my day. But having just spent the prior several hours or evenings hoping a color would warm on me with one more coat or in the daylight or with the furniture back in the room, I’ve lived with the unsatisfactory results for months to years on end. I’ve also had the much rarer experience of feeling like a color turned out exactly as I envisioned it. It’s great.

I really hope this is a skill that I can hone but I’m still not quite convinced.

This MIGHT seem random, but lately I have really been valuing my friends. In the past year, everyone in my life has given something without anything in return. I feel endless gratitude for all the support and people in my life. I can’t wait to return the favor. It is going to be great!

Thank you!

I just found out that tonight is the night we change our clocks and gain another hour of daylight!  I’m springing forward with a focus on intention this season.  I think it’s going to be a good one.

I found this on Pinterest the other day and it is kind of a good reminder.  Sometimes when you are stuck in a rut, it is not that easy to get out of it. I have done each of the things on this list knowing that they are keeping me stuck. Anyways, just some thoughts on a Saturday in March.

I have been playing around with my cameras during my hikes in Sedona and the Grand Canyon. The common theme here besides happiness is RED.

I have seen a couple movies lately that I can’t stop thinking about. I am not saying that I liked these movies but they have have stuck to me throughout the days and kept me wondering. Also, watching movie trailers on a Saturday in February is awesome.

Oscar weekend is here and I have to admit this may be the year I’ve seen the least number of nominated films. Or to be more specific, I only saw one; I talked about it here.  When I was growing up, I went to the movies all the time.  But something about going to see a movie in NYC just isn’t as gratifying.  It takes more work and is usually less of a spontaneous activity.  Anyway, this is all just lead in to post these photos of a cool looking movie theater in Switzerland.  There is something I find very compelling about them.

Lauren and I were talking on the phone the other night when we both stumbled upon a video made by a friend of ours. We sat and watched it together. While we were watching it, I kept telling Lauren that people should do things like this more often. What I really meant was that it’s always way more awesome when people share their talents with people then when they don’t. Thanks Mike for that reminder.

Here is our dear friend Mike doing a cover of “I’ll Go South” by his old band, BLUE Wysteria.
