Some pictures from our weekends.

Lauren – New York, NY

It was a gorgeous weekend in New York.  After an idyllic morning at home, I spent all day on Sunday at Afro Punk Fest in Brooklyn.  It was fantastic.  Great music, tons of food trucks and endlessly amazing style all around.

It was a “cold” day at the beach on Saturday, so we headed to the drive-in. Sunday was filled with exploring new neighborhoods and eating tacos.

FRINGE

farrell

I always thought that bangs were out for me considering I saw how my sister’s hair looked in 2nd grade. It seemed that curly hair + bangs = chaos. I have been proven wrong as I have noticed more and more of my curly haired sistas have been rocking the fringe.

I’ve been endlessly scrolling through pictures of fringe clothing, fringe boots, fringe jewelry, fringe curtains…but nothing is popping out to me and all I can hear is Billy Crystal’s voice in my head screaming, “Six years later you find yourself singing ‘Surrey With the Fringe on Top’ in front of Ira!” Man, this movie never disappoints.

My brother recently send me an article about The Inner Smile.  The article basically discusses the benefits of smiling.

Did you know that it takes 26 muscles to smile and 62 muscles to frown?

Did you know that smiling is the second most contagious facial expression next to yawning?

Maybe the best/worst picture of us.

Did you know that research suggests that receiving a smile is better than eating chocolate?

Did you know that smiling helps restore the body?

I have been reading the book Zelda by Nancy Milford. It has taken me a long time. Sometimes I read it in bursts or one page 2 weeks later. This Zelda Fitzgerald, she surely is a mystery. People called her a spitfire, the most beautiful woman they had ever seen, the original flapper, nothing special, a drunk, a crazy person, etc. The list goes on and on.

Amoung the many surprises about Zelda is that she herself had a knack for writing. She was fantastic at expressing herself through prose and I have loved reading her letters. Here are some of my favorite quotes by her:

“I love you, even if there isn’t any me, or any love, or even any life. I love you.”

“I remember every single spot of light that ever gouged a shadow beside your bones.”

“Isn’t it funny how danger makes people passionate?”

I just love that after reading her biography, I still don’t feel like I have her figured out. She is the ultimate character.

Hey y’all!  Hope your week is off to a fantastic start. Here are some pictures from our weekend:

This man sat with his feet about 3″ off the ground the entire time he was on the train. An odd and remarkable strength.

It’s been a slow readjustment back to life in NYC & I’d love to still be back home in Cleveland. These flowers on our backyard steps were one of my favorite parts of the wedding decor.

My friend told me a story about something a friend of hers said when they were much younger.  It goes, “We are all made of clay.  We can be molded into all sort of things.  And we each know the things within us that are what they are, as well as the things that can be made into something else.  But fundamentally, we are all made of the same thing.”

I have a hard time adjusting from one place to the next, as I am a lover of routine. I know this might sound crazy, but I have started to love drinking liquid chlorophyll to help me re-adjust after traveling. It sounds disgusting, but honestly, it has a sweet taste when added to water. It has been making me feel so good! I just had to look more into it. Here is what I have found:

It boosts your immune system

Cures bad breathe

Increases red blood cells

Fights infections and skin disorders

Promotes healthy bacteria in the gut

Really, the list goes on and on. So get your chlorophyll on!

We had such a full weekend of happy times last weekend that we wanted to share some more of our favorite pictures with you.

A quick trip to San Francisco

A quick trip to San Francisco

L:  What was your favorite part about being home for Teddy & Kelley’s wedding?

F:  My favorite part about being home for their wedding was being home for their wedding! This was by far the happiest time I have ever spent at home. I loved seeing how happy David (our other brother) and Mom and Dad were also. That was so sweet.

L:  What is your favorite picture from the wedding?

F:  I like this one because the sunset was amazing and they just look so happy.

L:  What are you most looking forward to about going back to LA?

F:  Going back to my eating habits. I feel puffy and yucky. I can’t wait to eat 3 healthy meals a day again.

L:  What’s something you really want to do before summer is over?

F:  Go to the beach one more time.

L:  How do you feel about flying?

F:  I really don’t like to do it. If I thought about it too much, I might freak out. I just try to get it over with but enjoy my time as well.

Hey everyone! We have had a crazy whirlwind of a weekend with Teddy and Kelley’s wedding.  It was beautiful, touching, heartwarming and wonderful. We are so happy for them.

These are the type of messages our mother has left around the house our entire lives.  They’ve been found on dirty dishes, hidden beer & cigarettes and countless other misbehaviors.  She never says anything more about them but you know she’s seen something of which she disapproves.  This one is priceless, I think.

One thing I miss about living on the East Coast is the thunderstorms. I have loved them since I was little. They bring a calm and craziness at the same time. I love, love, love them.

I came across the Hector Thunderstorm Project, an exhibit of time lapse thunderstorms in Australia. Check out this amazing thunderstorm form:
