In honor of Thanksgiving, here are some more pictures from our time in Turkey! Gobble, Gobble!

After a few days in Istanbul, we all headed south to Fethiye and were super lucky with beautiful, warm weather.

Diving into the Mediterranean

Back in Istanbul before saying our goodbyes

After parting way, Albert and I headed to Cappadocia in central Turkey.  It is so important to me that I stress how amazing Cappadocia is. It is one of the most unreal places I have ever been in my life. The terrain was created from lava that has eroded from rainwater and wind over the course of thousands of years. Not only that, but since 800 B.C. people have been carving caves inside and underground in the mountains themselves. The underground cities are up to 8 floors deep and at one time10,000 people lived there. If you have the chance to go to Turkey, do not miss Cappadocia.

If you ever have the chance to go to Turkey, please do. It is an amazing country rich with culture and, without sounding too cliche, where East really does meet West. Turkey has so much to offer and I feel like we barely scratched the surface.

We spent time seeing the sights in Istanbul, reunited with Lauren and my dad, caught some sun in Southern Turkey and then headed East to the unimaginable land of Cappadocia.  Here are just a handful of my favorite pictures from our time here.

More to come tomorrow…

We’re back today after turning the last two Picturesque posts over to Kelley, our soon to be sister to disco.  If you didn’t see them, I promise you do not want to miss these photos from the Haute Dog Halloween Parade.  Check out both installments here and here.

i carry your heart with me

by E.E. Cummings
i carry your heart with me (i carry it in
my heart) i am never without it (anywhere
i go you go, my dear; and whatever is done
by only me is your doing, my darling)

i fear
no fate (for you are my fate, my sweet) i want
no world (for beautiful you are my world, my true)
and it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you

here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life; which grows
higher than soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that’s keeping the stars apart

i carry your heart (i carry it in my heart)

Ode to Truth & Courage

We can let the circumstances of our lives harden us
so that we become increasingly resentful and afraid,
or we can let them soften us, and make us kinder.
We always have the choice.

~Dalai Lama

Only love is real.

(image via here)

Genuine hospitality is one of the most tender qualities in the world.

You are only scared of the unknown.

There are endless ways in which to help the world.

Israelis love hummus, for good reason.

There are two sides to every story.

Don’t trust the media, trust your gut.

I got back to New York (and an apartment with power!) on Tuesday after a fabulous trip with our dad to Turkey, and a short stop in Paris. It was so wonderful to see Farrell and Albert, and we had such a great time! We’ll tell you about our trip over the next couple of days but we didn’t want to wait to turn you onto Monster Rally & RUMTUM’s recently released second collaborative EP, Coasting. I absolutely love this album and it has been the perfect soundtrack for re-entry into real life, while maintaining a vacation vibe.

A limited number of etched vinyl records, designed by our brother Teddy (Monster Rally), are available for purchase from Gold Robot Records.  We are once again enamored with his work!

Check it!
