I hope everyone had a great weekend full of summer things and relaxation. Here are this week’s pictures:

Watching my brother get a pedicure for the first, and probably last, time was the best part of my weekend.

You know how I love me some aspirational talk so when two of my favorite bloggers (her and her) recently completed this goal setting exercise, I thought I’d like to give it a go as well.  It is actually kind of fun to complete, if you’re at all interested.

Eating / Breakfast again!  Time to restock my breakfast supplies at work (i.e. rolled oats, shredded coconut, golden raisins, walnuts & almonds).
Drinking / Lots of water.  I’m five months away from turning 35 and feeling the need to get serious about establishing consistent healthy habits.
Practicing / Self-discipline.
Mastering / The art of budgeting.
Learning / about UX Design.  Maybe it’s my golden ticket?!  Or maybe not.  But I’m looking into it.
Trying / Not to overbook myself.
Playing / More records when I’m in my apartment.
Finishing / My taxes.  Filing that extension seemed like a good idea at the time…
Reading / The Mindbody Prescription & hoping to heal my clicking jaw.
Remembering / Rome was not built in a day.
Wearing / Caftans, jumpers and flowy, summer dresses.
Cooking / Let’s not get ahead of ourselves here.  A trip to the grocery store spells success in my book.
Working / Remotely.  Someday.  Somehow.
Traveling / Frequently.  Tis the season.
Wanting / A facial.  The last time I got one the esthetician said I should get one a minimum of once a season.  I can definitely get down with that.

Albert has taken to training me in the mornings at our new gym, Box ‘n Burn. There is nothing like waking up at 7am, rushing to a boxing gym and working out. Sure, I have been to gyms before. In fact, I can’t stand them. I usually walk into a gym and feel no motivation or inspiration whatsoever. However, this gym is blasting music and people, dripping in sweat, punch things. It feels like you have no other option but to give it 110%.

Here is what I have had on repeat in my brain after hearing it bright and early and pumping some iron:

I’m back in New York today after almost a week in California.  It was such a fun and relaxing time and I’m hoping to keep the vacation feeling going as long as I can.  I can’t tell you how happy I am to be returning to fairly warm weather in NYC.  I don’t think I could take it if I was coming back to cold winter temperatures.  I know we’ve been posting nothing but vacation pictures for the past several days but I have one more batch from my camera that I wanted to share.  Hope you’re having a nice day!

L: Do you think I should start watching Game of Thrones?

F: I think pretty much anyone who has two eyes and an interest in being entertained would love Game of Thrones. It is somewhat of a fantasy world which is not my normally my thing, but this show is golden.

L: What was your favorite part about our family vacation?

F: My favorite part of our family vacation was having margaritas in bed and then having a congo line down to the living room and playing Salad Bowl and eating pizza.

L:  Do you have any plant care tips?

F: I have been involved in plant parenthood for a while now. My best tip is: never forget to re-pot your plants. Your plant can only grow as big as you let it.

L:  If you were able to grow facial hair, how would you style it?

Hey everyone! We had such a nice time together with our family this weekend in Santa Barbara. We’ll also get to spend some time in LA with each other as well. Here are this week’s pictures:

This seems hilarious since I am on Day 12 of my self-love challenge.

I’m not much of a cook but I love making guacamole!  It’s so simple and easy to adjust based on taste as you go.  For our first evening in Santa Barbara, Kelley, our sister-in-law, and I each made a batch.  Mine with salsa and cilantro; hers with pineapple.  Both were a hit and gone in no time.  Cheers y’all.

Welp, Sister Disco is finally together again – as it should be. Our whole family is together on this fine day to head to Santa Barbara for some wine tasting, kayaking in the Channel Islands and time spent by the pool.

Check out how cool these Santa Barbara Salt Caves are.

More updates to come!

It has been almost a full six months since I’ve seen my brothers and sister but that’s all about to change in just a few more hours when I land in Los Angeles.  I can’t wait to spend the week hanging out with them, my parents, sister-in-law & Albert!

selflove

I have been thinking a lot about women and their bodies this week. It first started with me and my own body and then trickled down to my friends, my mother and then the world.

Why is it that women are so hard on themselves and their bodies?

I can honestly say that this has been my life’s struggle to not only love my body, but really just to accept it.

As I was talking to my friends the other day, we all acknowledged that we have tried extreme diets to either gain or loose weight, and still never felt whole.

What happened to us along the way that we believe that we are not good enough?

More importantly, what is the answer?

I don’t know the answer, but I do know that it starts with talking about it.

The more I talk about it with my friends and family, the more I realize that I am not feeling anything different than any other woman. That is comforting, but also alarming.

I would love to hear anyone’s thoughts on practicing self love and acceptance.

You are beautiful.
