I just arrived home late last night from Boulder, Denver and Vail. I had such a wonderful time with all of my friends. Colorado is such a beautiful place and I have met so many amazing people from there.
Just wanted to share a quick picture from the beautiful wedding on Saturday in Evergreen.
Once I get settled, I will share more from this weekend.
I have a real tendency to over-think things and last week I let that inclination go into overdrive. The results were not pretty. To say nothing of overcoming internal resistance to changing our minds, it amazes me what a fresh perspective can bring to your daily experience. Along those lines, did you know:
-It has been shown that stress is bad for you if you believe it is:
*
-What you believe about the food you eat affects the way your body metabolizes it:
*
-Anger is the body’s emotional & protective response to a perceived threat. It matters not whether the threat is real or imagined. “To effectively reduce or eliminate the anger in your life, change the core beliefs, assumptions, and interpretations of the mind.”
Happy Easter! Just before taking this picture in the flower section at Whole Foods, I had brunch at the Butcher’s Daughter – the first space that Farrell posted. It’s a small, bright world.
Though it snowed yesterday here in New York, I’ve got summer on my mind. I’m envisioning long, sunny days that flow almost unnoticeably from one to the next and a lot of reading. (Think that time I lived in India and had nothing but time to read and read and read).
I currently have four nonfiction books that I’m somewhere in the middle of but can’t seem to get through; I started three of them months ago. I’m thinking I need a story that is completely captivating – another world to carry with me and sink into a couple times every day. Do you have any recommendations (fiction or non)? I’m ready to get going.
Remember back in the day when MTV did different unplugged shows? Well, this isn’t what this post is about. I found out about this new meditation place in Santa Monica called Unplug Meditation. I was drawn to their look and aesthetic at first and thought the idea could be very interesting. The first week of their opening is free and so I thought I would head on over.
For me, it was a great reminder to get out in the world and try new things and also to keep up with my mediation.
I am not sure how much I will frequent Unplug, but I really like the idea and wanted to pass it on.
ten minutes every day to close my eyes & see what i feel. to try to disconnect the feeling from the story and simply allow the feeling to be felt. to recognize the tendency to suppress discomfort and to let it be, without needing to know why it’s there. to remind myself, again and again, of how i want to live. of my sole ability & responsibility to experience that life. right now. and to keep creating the time and space to be present and move myself forward.
