HEADING back to NYC for a couple of weeks before Christmas and excited to get this Christmas scent going on my stove.

PROCRASTINATING packing for my flight.  I really dislike packing!

LOOKING to sublet my apartment for a few weeks/months starting early January.  Hit me up if you or someone you know is interested!

SPEEDING through Amy Poehler’s memoir Yes, Please and I am just not so sure about this one guys. So far, I might like Bossypants and Not That Kind of Girl much better.

ANTICIPATING some time at home with my family and friends over Christmas and spending quality time with different age groups is always inspiring to me!

INVESTING my time into learning more about my finances, spending and saving. It’s awesome!

Thanksgiving dinner bound with mom & Mommom

F:  What were you the most thankful for on Thanksgiving?

L:  Family.  Even without you, Albert, Dad, David, Teddy or Kelley home I still spent the day with members of our family on both sides throughout the day.  Strange not to be with any of you guys this year but I’m so thankful that we are part of such a big family.

F:  What has been the biggest lesson you have been gifted since your left your job?

L:  When you have/make time to open yourself to others, you will have amazing experiences.

F:  What are you most excited for around Christmas times?

L:  I’m excited for our family’s gift exchange.  Ever since we decided to give each other homemade gifts instead of buying them, I’ve looked forward to Christmas morning in an entirely new way – even on that first year when I totally bombed/cheated and made everyone super lame personalized gift kits from the drug store.

F:  Would you rather attempt to jump out of a plane or hike Mount Everest?

L:  Oh, jump out of a plane for sure!  Hiking Mount Everest sounds like one of the most intense things you could ever try to attempt and not one thing in me yearns for that experience.

F:  What is the characteristic that you value the most in any relationship?

L:  This is a really hard question!  Loyalty, kindness and enjoyment are the first things that come to mind.

Late last night we landed in Denver airport to begin our holiday season with Thanksgiving in Boulder.  I am so happy to be in a sunny place with fresh mountain air.  It is always so nice to be back in Colorado; it is such a special place at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains where you can have good food, find great company and chill.  I will admit, however, that it is completely freezing here!  Bye, bye California!

REALIZING that when I get to Cleveland tomorrow, it will be the fifth city I’ve been in in the past seven days.  What a whirlwind of time and experiences?!

ABSORBING all the ideas that where shared at a class on Personal Branding that I attended last night.

THINKING back on a couple of really powerful long conversations I had with people I’d just met this past weekend.

TRYING to stay calm, grounded and fed during the work days.

INVESTING in my friends and family’s health around the holiday season and it’s fun!

FLYING to Boulder tonight to spend some time with said friends and family.

IMG_5369At the beginning of last week my dad called me and asked me if I’d like to go with him to a reception he was invited to at the White House with President Obama.  I can barely believe I just typed that sentence – and obviously the answer was yes!  The reception was thrown in appreciation of ongoing support of President Obama and lasted three hours.  Pretty immediately after arriving we got into line for a photo with the President in the Blue Room.  Once our turn came, I shook the President’s hand and he asked me how I was doing.  I’m not entirely sure what I said in response but I clearly remember thinking to myself, The President of the United States just asked you a question and you should be speaking now.  I really tried to resist the urge to have my phone out taking pictures the whole time so these photos aren’t the best but I thought I’d post them anyhow.  Of those I saw, the recognizable spaces within the White House were all smaller than I imagined they would be. Portraits and paintings, mostly of past presidents, line the walls everywhere you look.  A number of military officers from all the different branches have social posts in the White House and were stationed in every room.  It was such an exciting evening and I can barely wrap my head around the fact that I just went to the White House and met the President.  Sharing the experience with my dad only made the evening all the more special.  I’ll never forget it.

L:  Do you have a go-to cure for boredom?

F: I went to an event last night and there was a question of the day. The question was: Which vice would you like to give up for 30 days? I wrote feeling bored. Lately I have gotten into the habit of bordem. I think it is all a state of mind – a perspective. Usually, I do something I have never done before to rid myself of the habit.

L:  Will you be doing any cooking for Thanksgiving with Albert’s family?

F: I am so excited to go back to Boulder. I always love to be there. I hope to help with some of the cooking, but I haven’t been assigned anything yet. More to come…

L:  If you could only have one, would you rather have a bathtub or fireplace in your house/apt?

F: Now THAT is a question! If I could only have one and environmental resources we not at stake, I would certainly choose a bathtub. I love a good bath.

L:  What has been the best part of your week so far?

F: On Thursday morning some of my friends and I went on a 7am hike in the mountains. It is always so nice to spend time with other women and really talk things out. I loved it.

L:  Have you heard any good new music lately?

F. Nothing too new lately, however I have been listening a lot to the “Easy Beat” album by Dr. Dog. It is just forever giving.
