When I first started at my new job, my teammates went around the table and shared a goal they had for the summer. Not only was I thrilled to be at my new job, but I was so inspired by this exercise. I was enjoying hearing what people had to say and then it was time for me to answer. I knew there was going to be a lot on my plate this summer. Two very special weddings, two very special bachelorette parties, a very special birthday and a lot of visitors. It was hard not to feel bogged down about all that I had to do. So, I made it my goal for this summer to remember that all these very special things that were happening were just that – special. I have put all my focus this summer on enjoying and celebrating all the good things and not letting myself get overwhelmed by the details. I gotta tell you, it feels good.

Over the past few weeks, I have been prioritizing downtime and health. I still have ample room for improvement but I’m hoping that in creating time for stillness, I will be more present in the way I address the other priories in my life. Forever a work in progress…

L:  What inspires you?

F:  I get most of my inspiration from blogs, my friends and family. I tend to get ideas and leads on recipes and crafts through the blogs that I read. Three of my favorites are DeisgnLoveFest, Cupcakes and Cashmere and 101 Cookbooks.

L:  What are you currently reading?

F:  Amy just gave me the book Zelda by Nancy Milford. It is the biography of Zelda Fitzgerald (F. Scott’s wife).  I have always loved the idea of them, so I am extremely interested to start reading.

L:  What’s your favorite flower?

F:  Yikes, that is really changing for me. It used to be sunflowers. However, California has really gotten me smitten with peonies and calla lilies.

L:  If you were an Olympian, what sport would you choose and why?

F:  I must admit that I ljust ooked up a list of olympic sports. I think the ones that most stand out to me are archery, diving and synchronized swimming.

L:  Planes, trains or automobiles?

F:  Trains, 100%. No matter where I am going on a train I am excited for it. Planes scare me and cars make me carsick these days.

Over the weekend, we celebrated Albert’s 30th birthday. When deciding what to do, I wanted to plan something that was very relaxed and filled with people he loves. All of my siblings, his siblings and some special family friends ended up renting a wonderful home is Costa Mesa for the weekend.

L. Does summer feel different than spring in L.A.?

F: Oh yeah! When we first got here in March, I felt chilly. Now, it is SO hot. The heat is nothing like home though. The humidity takes it to a whole new level in Cleveland. It is more of a desert-ish, dry beating heat.

L. Are your nails and/or toes painted?  What color?

F: Surprisingly, I do not like to have my nails painted. They always chip and it never lasts. My toenails however are mandatory. Lately I have been painting them a soft lavender and they look great.

L. What’s your favorite thing about being a part of a big family?

F: I feel constantly supported. There is nothing like knowing that no matter what happens to me I have support. I feel loved.

L. What’s your least favorite part about being a part of a big family?

F: That is a good question. I honestly have nothing to complain about. I would say however that sometimes it is hard to keep up with everyone that I love because I love so many people. I feel blessed to be so close to all of my extended family

L. Do you have a new favorite funny youtube?

F: Ha! Yes, in fact, I do! My coworker showed me this the other day and I thought it was so stupid that it was funny. I am such a fan of physical comedy. It always gets me.

Last week’s SUPERMOON.

(Image found here)

Though I am pretty busy with work and adapting to a new and ever changing schedule these days, some things have peaked my interest this week.

1. I have been exchanging favorite Ted Talks with a co-worker. Here is his favorite one.

2. I watched the documentaries Love, Marilyn (somewhat cheesy) and Pussy Riot through HBOgo and both left impressions on me.

3. I am loving this smoothie.

4. I listen to Here’s The Thing, a podcast hosted by Alec Baldwin, every morning. He interviews some really interesting people that are clearly already comfortable around him.

5. Billy Joel is awesome and always will be.
