My time at home was awesome. Ohio was greener than ever. There were so many wonderful things about being home. Here are just a few:
Swimming in Lake Erie and learning about the water snakes.
Ate BBQ at Famous Dave’s in Cedar Point.
Had a sunset golf cart ride through Put In Bay.
Made french toast, drank coffee and waiting for the storms to pass in Huron.
Saw a Friday Night Flick in Lakewood park and sat by the water and looked at the super moon.
Had two wonderful family dinners in our back yard and watched the sunsets.
Biked the Towpath on Albert’s birthday.

Subway musicians are a huge part of New York City’s underground life. A couple of months ago I started recording little snippets of the sounds I was hearing in the subway. I finally got around to uploading them to share with you. It’s no great recording or mixing feat but I hope you enjoy this quick, under 3 minutes, listen.

Yesterday, my friend Karen and I started a seven-week oil painting class. Somehow I have never painted before (other than on the walls of my apartment) and I don’t think I have taken any sort of art class since my freshman year of high school. I’m pretty excited to go back next week. In the meantime, Bob Ross clips will play on my screen over and over again.
I feel like a kiddo on summer vacation! I have been reading so much during my down time.

A couple of my co-workers love Jason Silva and it wasn’t until a week or so again that I understood why. I spent one evening watching video after video of his. I could not get enough! He calls these videos philosophical shots of espresso and that term is pretty dead on. Lately, when I am feeling bored or depressed, I quickly google Jason Silva on my phone and watch a video or two.

After my friend mentioned that she watched Les Miserables this weekend, I have had songs from that glorious play in my head all day long. It reminded me how much I love showtunes. I know how lame the word showtunes sounds, but I guess that’s just what we call them. I grew up listening to “The Best of Andrew Lloyd Webber.” All my other siblings heard the same music, but for me it just stuck. I loved everything about Broadway musicals. Ever since then, those songs tear at my heart strings. I can feel every emotion in every song and also feel such a sense of nostalgia for my childhood.

You know how I love me some aspirational talk so when two of my favorite bloggers (her and her) recently completed this goal setting exercise, I thought I’d like to give it a go as well. It is actually kind of fun to complete, if you’re at all interested.

Eating / Breakfast again! Time to restock my breakfast supplies at work (i.e. rolled oats, shredded coconut, golden raisins, walnuts & almonds).
Drinking / Lots of water. I’m five months away from turning 35 and feeling the need to get serious about establishing consistent healthy habits.
Practicing / Self-discipline.
Mastering / The art of budgeting.
Learning / about UX Design. Maybe it’s my golden ticket?! Or maybe not. But I’m looking into it.
Trying / Not to overbook myself.
Playing / More records when I’m in my apartment.
Finishing / My taxes. Filing that extension seemed like a good idea at the time…
Reading / The Mindbody Prescription & hoping to heal my clicking jaw.
Remembering / Rome was not built in a day.
Wearing / Caftans, jumpers and flowy, summer dresses.
Cooking / Let’s not get ahead of ourselves here. A trip to the grocery store spells success in my book.
Working / Remotely. Someday. Somehow.
Traveling / Frequently. Tis the season.
Wanting / A facial. The last time I got one the esthetician said I should get one a minimum of once a season. I can definitely get down with that.
