Pulling an Osho tarot card has been somewhat of an ongoing joke between Lauren and me as it used to be our mom’s suggested solution to any problem. Somehow, however, we have both slowly incorporated it into our lives.

If you are into it, just go to the Osho site and pick a card. For what it is worth, this is the one I picked this morning.

ripeness

Only if your meditation has brought you a light that shines in every night will even death not be a death to you but a door to the divine. With the light in your heart, death itself is transformed into a door, and you enter into the universal spirit; you become one with the ocean. And unless you know the oceanic experience, you have lived in vain. Now is always the time, and the fruit is always ripe. You just need to gather courage to enter into your inner forest. The fruit is always ripe and the time is always the right time. There is no such thing as wrong time.

Osho A Sudden Clash of Thunder Chapter 6

Commentary:

When the fruit is ripe, it drops from the tree by itself. One moment it hangs by a thread from the branches of the tree, bursting with juice. The next moment it falls–not because it has been forced to fall, or has made the effort to jump, but because the tree has recognized its ripeness and simply let it go. When this card appears in a reading it indicates that you are ready to share your inner riches, your ‘juice’. All you need to do is relax right where you are, and be willing for it to happen. This sharing of yourself, this expression of your creativity, can come in many ways–in your work, your relationships, your everyday life experiences. No special preparation or effort on your part is required. It is simply the right time.

Full moon. Moon beam. Moonrise. Moonlight. Moonstone. Super moon. Moon phase. Moondance.

I love the moon. I always have. There is just something about it. The mystery of it, its beauty, the fact that it is always there but forever changing shape – these are all things I love about the moon. This video, Full Moon Silhouettes, makes me love the moon even more. Here is what the videographer said about shooting this piece:

“Full Moon Silhouettes is a real time video of the moon rising over the Mount Victoria Lookout in Wellington, New Zealand. People had gathered up there this night to get the best view possible of the moon rising. I captured the video from 2.1km away on the other side of the city. It’s something that I’ve been wanting to photograph for a long time now, and a lot of planning and failed attempts had taken place. Finally, during moon rise on the 28th January 2013, everything fell into place and I got my footage.

The video is as it came off the memory card and there has been no manipulation whatsoever. Technically it was quite a challenge to get the final result.”

We are all kind of bombarded with information on the internet and it’s rare when we’re impressed by any of it.  But there have been a couple things that have caught my attention this week and I wanted to share them with you.  Some things that made me do a double take:

This photo series of Afghanistan has me in awe of the color contrasts that exist there.  It is a perfect blend of extreme beauty and intense pain.

I read this post by the infamous Penelope Trunk a while ago and it has got me to thinking:  I think it might be better (for me) to have more goals than dreams. The fact is, dreams can come true when you turn them into practice goals for yourself.  So, this year, I have decided to set 13 goals for 2013, ’cause if its a goal, it’s 100% achievable.

My 13 goals are:

Start learning to play the piano

Sing more often

Find a job I thrive in

Strengthen my meditation practice

Go to Palm Springs

Fall back in love with cooking

Dress like a 28 year old woman

Create more

Practice compassion

Save money

Plant a garden

Spend quality time with my very best friends

Trust in myself

Lauren and I were talking on the phone the other night when we both stumbled upon a video made by a friend of ours. We sat and watched it together. While we were watching it, I kept telling Lauren that people should do things like this more often. What I really meant was that it’s always way more awesome when people share their talents with people then when they don’t. Thanks Mike for that reminder.

Here is our dear friend Mike doing a cover of “I’ll Go South” by his old band, BLUE Wysteria.

So, we are headed to California soon. In a way, I am nervous and at the same time I cannot wait for the sunshine state to embrace me.

These are the things I am most excited about:
